The Skull-A-Day blog

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

I’m really enjoying the Skull-A-Day blog. The author posts a new image of a skull every day. They’re all very creative and original. Today’s skull was carved from an organic bell pepper.

Band Names

Saturday, July 29th, 2006

Ever had trouble coming up with a good band name? Fret no more. Here is a list of 10,000 computer-generated, “statistically average” band names.

A few of my favorites:

  • Invalid Dignitary
  • Sadistic Delegate
  • Kennel
  • Southbound Blackjack
  • Magic Citrus
  • Design Inaction
  • Taboo Beard
  • Temperance
  • Postmortem Cliff
  • Mossy Puss
  • Wren Rancher Clubhouse
  • Temperamental Beavers
  • Piercing Vulnerabilities

I’d really like to get my hands on the program that generated these. Some of them are pretty damn good!

More cliché sentiment

Thursday, July 13th, 2006

Nobody’s perfect. It happens to the best of us. You’re only human, you can’t change the past. When you get right down to brass tacks, feeling bad is just a new sensation — it could be worse. Behind the clouds the sun is shining, and every cloud has a silver lining. When it rains, it pours… and right now it’s coming down in buckets. But after the rain comes a rainbow, and it’s always darkest before dawn. So look on the bright side. Tomorrow is another day. Time heals all wounds, and what doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger. After all, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel to pin your hopes on. Your time will come.

A cliché kind of feeling

Saturday, June 3rd, 2006

Ignorance is bliss, but it’s lonely at the top and the grass really is greener on the other side. All work and no play makes Randy a dull boy, but a penny saved is a penny earned and a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. Just don’t put all your eggs into one basket.

What goes around comes around. That’s life. So you woke up on the wrong side of the bed. So what? You’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t. You can’t judge a book by its cover — and be careful what you wish for, because you just might get it. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, and all’s fair in love and war. Still, love conquers all, and all’s well that ends well.

Snubster

Wednesday, March 15th, 2006

Apparently someone likes the Colbert Report, and wanted to share the love with the rest of us. The result is Snubster, a site which allows you to put people on notice, and when it gets really bad they can be upgraded to dead to me.

Give it a try.

Capture the Flag, SoHo

Thursday night at 8:00pm in SoHo will be yet another really cool event that would never happen in Tampa.

Friday Points of Interest

Friday, July 15th, 2005

Chief Justice William Rehnquist has put away all rumors of his imminent retirement, and returned to work at the Supreme Court.

Department of Homeland Security director Michael Chertoff has a big “fuck you” for New Yorkers.

Bloggers, take note of Atom 1.0.

And for a good chuckle, have a look at these 40 laws of the movie universe. Or have a look at this fake ad for the new iPod flea.

Have a good weekend.
